Wow! So here we are...a dream come true! A music school for the community. A great way to provide a livelihood for our family while whole-heartedly loving what we are doing for our little piece of the planet. Doesn't get much better than that!
Sound Roots is scheduled to open on October 1st, 2008. We have found a beautiful space (thank you, J, P and D) in an Old Portland style house just off NE MLK (412 NE Beech, to be exact).
This is the first time the house is being used as a commercial space and we have been ordered by the City of Portland to do some pretty major readjustments to the house to be sure it is safe and secure for our students. Construction is supposed to be complete by the end of Sept. We are keeping our fingers crossed that all goes as planned and have scheduled our classes and lessons to begin on Monday, Oct 6. Once it is complete, you will see why it was worth the effort!
Going forward, we will be using this blog to bring you updates, announcements, and interesting musical tidbits from Sound Roots instructors.
